Our Mom was so sweet. She raised three beautiful children. They had some fun vacations. Dad had rented a cabin in Maine once. Her husband, Larry Sr. took the boys out on the lake, set her up with a lantern and, an hour later, Mom was screaming and shrieking as a bat flew into the cabin. Dad never paddled so fast to get to her. They loved telling the story. Mom was always a good sport and loved a good laugh. Her sons and grandsons, following in her brothers footsteps, did everything they could to make her laugh hard. Her grandchildren and on down the line did the same. She loved all children, she loved having a neat and clean home, and she and Dad loved to entertain family all year long. Each Christmas she played many Christmas hymns and carols on the organ Dad had given her. She dedicated herself to helping Dad in his business but she also loved attending her Eastern Star meetings and ceremonies, volunteered when she could, at the polls, at the hospital or at Church of the Ascension where she and Dad married in 1940. Since Dad was active in the RVCFD, they both enjoyed seeing their friends. The following families come to mind: Neitz, Browne, Sorrentino, Elmore, Ericson, Irwin, Painton, Milone, Maisch, Smith, and a whole lot more. They also had very close friends from town: the Guida family, the Wilsons, the Treccasi’s, and many who were customers at Larry McAteer & Sons service station and she was loved by her children’s friends and their families. Mom loved to travel with Dad to see their daughter and family in different states and finally Colorado. They loved getting away on long weekends to Sky Top in PA and they took vacations to Hawaii and several of the Islands in the Caribbean. Mom cared for her grandchildren and later children in her neighborhood, on Muirfield Rd., so their moms could go out to work. She was called Nanny by all the kids and her grandchildren as well. Everyone at Maple Pointe Assistant Living, whete she resided in recent years, said she was so sweet. She made many friends there and was quite happy. We all have so many great memories of Mom, Evie, Aunt Evelyn, Mama Bear, Nan, Nanny and Mrs. Mac.
