I would like to offer my condolences. I just learned of the passing of Barbara Maltese and I am so sorry for your loss.
I live in Rockville Centre and my Grandmother was Rose Maltese before she married my grandfather. My great-grandmother was Jennie (Giovaninna) Maltese and her husband I think had been Semore Malteze who passed away in Sicily after returning there when my grandmother Rose was just 4 years old. Semore's brothers, from the stories my grandmother told me, had been her only uncles--one uncle had been a Bishop in the Bronx by the name of Pasquale Maltese. Her other uncle had been a virtuoso violinist who returned to NY to perform concerts.
I was born in Jamaica, with the help of a midwife by the name of Francess A. Maltese. She was a cousin on the Maltese side, and her name appears on my birth certificate.
Had Barbara been a daughter of Elsie and Sam Maltese? Sam was my grandmother Rose's brother. Elsie and Sam lived in Florida and visited often.
I wish I had known Barbara. I am so sorry for your loss. She was beautiful, I can see. God bless.
I will keep you in my prayers.
My condolences,
Rose Geluso Arbucci
