Saddened to hear of my longtime friend. We both shared a concern about our environment and participated in actions and walked in anti-war marches. However, it was really the great laughter Chris could share with me. Often we would laugh until we wept. We shared a great passion for nature, music and art. I will miss you Chris. You were a singular individual and friend to me. Like no other. Condolences to his mother, brother and family.

I met Chris on my first job, post-college - near the LI communities where we were raised and our parents still live. We shared a love of teasing out the puzzles of our young lives including our families of origin, aspirations and love interests (including our own). We shared a real interest in natural living. After I moved to the city, we continued to indulge each other in long chats but now they were sprinkled with issues around profession and vocation, politics and, still, personalities. It was Chris who called us, together, the brain and the ear as I continued to be puzzled and inquiring and he continued to be the best listener I could ever want. And, zany. He always made me feel better by his presence, whether by phone or on visits to museums or diners (esp. on LI). He gave succor; that his spirit receive that in return. My condolences to his family - his mother, his brother and family.

Still in some disbelief that you have left your physical body.
Dear sweet friend, I will cherish our memories: walks along the rocky North Shore, seeing a fox as we chatted away along a Caumsett Park trail, our hilarity during never ending phone conversations about the people, places and things of our times.
Chris really had a twinkle in his eye, and as my husband Jon noted: "a surfeit of passion." I have a rock on my desk that Chris retrieved for me in a spontaneous wade into the Long Island Sound.
Lucky to have had such a true friend! I will walk in the woods and remember him always.
Love and healing to all his family and friends.

This is one of my favorite photos of Chris from Potsdam in the late 70s.

Goodbye old friend. I remember laughing till we cried, listening to music till we wept, and walking and talking for hours in the moonlight. No one else could have done what you did, and we were so very alive.
I still can't believe your gone, who do I talk about with these unique memories? I'll carry you to the end of my life, and wherever you are now, I'm sure I'll be there with you someday.
To your family, I'm so sorry you lost Chris. Thank you for bringing him into this world for all of us to enjoy.
