Obituary of Wayland McCon Mead

Wayland McCon Mead, 82, on January 9, 2014. He was born on November 25, 1931 and raised on a Dairy Farm in Roxbury, NY. Wayland attended Cornell University School of Agriculture, afterwards he spent two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Among his many achievements, Wayland attended law school at Cornell, followed by a successful career as a corporate lawyer. Former board member of the charity New Alternatives for Children, he also served as a volunteer boat captain for the Nature Conservancy in Naples and the vice chairman of the Pelican Bay Men's Coffee. Wayland enjoyed all types of travel, golf and flying private planes. This wonderful man, with his unassuming nature and cheerful personality, was a delight to know and will be missed by many. Twice married adn widowed, he is survived by his beloved children Michael, David and Deborah. Grandchildren Jennifer, Christopher, Rachel and Veronica. Sister Sylvia Blakeslee and brother Keith Mead. A memorial Service will be held at Thomas A. Glynn & Son Funeral Home, 20 Lincoln Ave Rockville Centre, NY 11570 on Saturday January 25, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. A reception will follow at the George Martin Restaurant. 65 North Park Ave Rockville Centre, NY 11570. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Stroke Association.
