Obituary of Jean Lucey

Jean Lucey, 99 of Jacksonville Florida on September 26, 2024.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, New York on Friday October 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held at Thomas Glynn & Son Funeral Home, 20 Lincoln Avenue, Rockville Centre, New York 11570 on October 3, 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm

Jean was born in Brooklyn, New York to Blanche and Franklin Griesbeck.  She studied Fashion Design at Pratt Institute in New York City. Jean was an accomplished Artist and Enamellist.  She was active in active in both the Watson School and South Side High School PTAs, serving in numerous roles including President.  She was active in the Rockville Centre Cub Scouts, Little League Auxiliary, and Boys Basketball League.  Jean was a member of Rockville Centre Recreation Center Mayor’s Advisory Board and was a founding member of the South Side Sr. High School Booster Club.  She retired in 1992.  In 1999 she and her husband Eugene  moved to Jacksonville Florida where they were both active in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church community.  In her spare time she knitted hats and blankets for babies at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville. 

Eugene predeceased Jean In 2005.  She is survived by her five sons and their wives - Michael (Bonnie), John (Catherine), David (Jeanne), Peter (Susan), Thomas (Diane).  She has nine grandchildren - Sean, Sinead, Michael, Kathleen, Jessica, David, Mary, Daniel and Kaitlyn, and five great-grandchildren - Clark, Franklin, John, Sean and Jack.
