Obituary of Dolores Edwards-Farren
Dolores Maria Edwards- Farren
The world lost a beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Friend, and Teacher to all Monday March 22, 2021. Dolores Maria Edwards, age 69 passed peacefully in her home. Dolores grew up in Rockville Centre, New York and graduated from Southside High School. One of her fondest memories was being BLUE TEAM Captain of 1969 for the ever so popular girls sporting event Red and Blue. Dory, as her friends nicknamed her, went on to complete her Masters Degree in English Literature at Queens College. Dolores spent her life educating children and adults how to write, stand up for their rights, and respect themselves. Dolores taught at Roosevelt High School for 20 years. She was warmly known as Sully. On testing days Dolores would meet her students in McDonalds, buy them all breakfast while giving them last minute study tips. In addition to Roosevelt, Dolores was an adjunct English professor at Nassau Community College for the last 18 years. Throughout her career Dory wrote two 0ff-broadway plays and had her second book Gertrude’s Guilt published. Dolores is survived by her husband Brian Farren, and had 4 children, and 2 grandchildren with another one on the way. (Colleen, Keith, Brian, Conall, Kiera, Kaitlyn, and soon to be baby C.) Her son Brian recently passed away from Testicular cancer and since then Dolores has made it her mission to educate all young men on the severity of this disease. She started the nonprofit Brian’s Kitchen to raise awareness, and feed hungry athletes at NCC. Her friends and family will miss Dory’s 5:00pm phone calls and constant visits to just say hello during the day. This week the world may have gotten a little dimmer but Heaven got a lot brighter.
